Overview:  The Supervised Visitation Monitor coordinates and facilitate visits between children in out of home placement and their birth parents, children and their non-custodial parent, or siblings residing in separate out of home placements.

Services: The Supervised Visitation Monitor ensures child safety and well-being while transporting to and from visits, and while fully supervising parent-child interactions during visits. Use Visit Coaching strategies to enhance parenting and parent-child interactions. Work collaboratively with DCP&P staff and others to ensure the seamless integration of all service elements.

 

To qualify for the Supervised Visitation Monitor position you need to have the below minimum requirements and experience

  • Minimum requirement is Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work or a related field, plus 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional experience working with child welfare preferred.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Supervised Visitation Monitor Responsibilities:

Primary Duties:

  • Safely transport children/ parents to/from visits
  • Coach parents in providing meaningful visits that address the children's needs
  • Timely, professional communication with all parties involved in visit (birth parents, resource parents, schools, daycare, DCP&P, etc.)
  • Effectively document relevant parent-child interactions and communications in a timely manner.

Supervised Visitation Monitor Competency/Performance Standards:

  • Must demonstrate initiative, creativity, be dependable reliable and work well independently.
  • Must be able to exercise independent thinking and good judgement under all circumstances.
  • Must have knowledge of mandatory child abuse reporting laws, child development, crisis de-escalation skills, and trauma informed care.
  • Continually assesses and responds to client's needs, providing culturally competent services.
  • Adheres to professional conduct that aligns with the Agency Mission.
  • Upholds ethical standards in accordance with the Social Work Code of Ethics.
  • Functions within agency's policies and procedures as outlined on agency public documents.
  • Operates according to program and agency operations manuals
  • Completes program and agency paperwork within established guidelines and timeframes.
  • Ensures quality and accuracy of written and verbal communications.
  • Communicates programmatic or job related concerns to supervisor in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Utilizes supervision effectively to address client related issues, communicate performance concerns, areas of professional development and training needs.
  • Partner as appropriate with other divisions within Acenda and other external programming to ensure a holistic care offering to individuals and families served not only within the division, but also throughout the agency.
  • Must be sensitive, flexible and responsive to gender, race, ethnicity, socio-economic status, religion, age, sexual orientation or any other special needs as reflected in the ability to communicate with staff and/or clients.

Necessary Skills and Abilities

  • Must regularly be able to see, speak and hear. Frequently required to stand, sit, walk, bend, use hands and arms and must occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
