What you'll do

Have personal experience with substance use, as well as wellness and recovery. Work with the Early Intervention Support Services Team to ensure individuals needing assistance achieve mental wellness through a Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP)

· Operate as a strong SU Peer Champion liaison, and meet face to face with individuals utilizing a strength-based perspective for individual and group engagement

· Collaborate with Acenda and Community Providers to link individuals into services needed.

· Provide support in recognizing cravings, urges, triggers; and provide skill building including relapse prevention planning;

· Prevent and assist with crisis situations; help reduce potential for relapse;

What you'll bring to the team

· Minimum of a High School Diploma; Bachelors preferred with experience in a recovery-oriented role

· Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) or ability to begin working towards certificate at start of position

· Lived and personal experience with substance use to provide support to the persons we are engaging.

· Excellent personal communication skills in order to motivate and engage individuals, as well as being effective with linking to necessary treatment services

· Must have and maintain a valid driver's license, use of an insured vehicle and an acceptable driving record

· Professionalism and a commitment to excellence in care

· SUD Peer Specialist will be required to attend DMHAS' mandatory 3-Day Ethics Training.
